Overview

Inspired by the much-loved film directed by John Madden and starring Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, and Tom Wilkinson, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel tells the story of British retirees who travel to India to live in what they believe is a beautifully restored hotel. While the reality turns out to be far simpler than promised, the hotel and India itself, gradually wins them over in unexpected ways.

Our Best Exotic Marigold Hotel Tour of India follows the real locations featured in the film and the journeys that inspired it. The highlight of the tour is a stay at the original Marigold Hotel itself, whose real name is Ravla Khempur, located near Udaipur. This itinerary is also inspired by BBC documentaries created after the film, offering deeper cultural insight into the places and stories shown on screen.

This thoughtfully designed journey takes you through Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Udaipur, combining iconic landmarks with immersive local experiences. From the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal to the royal heritage of Rajasthan and the quiet charm of rural India, this tour allows you to experience the emotions and transformations portrayed in the movie — not on screen, but in real life.

A special focus of this journey is Khempur village, located about 50 km from Udaipur. The village and its people represent one of the finest examples of rural tourism in India. Here, you experience everyday village life up close — simple, sustainable, and deeply rooted in tradition. Many travelers find that by the end of this tour, they feel a genuine personal shift, much like the characters in the film.
